You can start coding with just your phone and M-Pesa bundles

I used to think you needed a powerful laptop to learn coding. Not true. I learned my first Python loops on a Tecno phone using a free app called SoloLearn, and just using my normal M-Pesa data bundles. It was slow but it worked. If you have a phone and even small data, you can start. Many online courses have mobile-friendly versions. You don't need to be a maths genius either. Coding is more like following a recipe step by step. Anyone else started learning on a phone or felt stuck thinking you needed expensive gear first?

Brother, I feel you. I'm still learning on my phone too, a little Infinix with Safaricom bundles I buy on M-Pesa. Watching YouTube videos for Python, pausing, typing along. It's slow but it's real progress. That SoloLearn app, is it good for complete beginners like me who don't know what a loop even is yet?

SoloLearn is solid for starting out - it walks you through loops bit by bit and lets you practice right there on your phone. Since you're using YouTube too, try searching for "Python loop for beginners" and follow along with your Infinix, pause and copy the code. That slow approach actually helps you remember it better than just watching.

Totally agree with the advice above. SoloLearn is great for starting from absolute zero - it defines loops step by step before you even type. One thing that helped me was thinking of a loop like folding laundry, doing one shirt at a time until the pile is gone. Takes the fear out.

That laundry analogy is spot on. For me, it helped to think of a loop like sorting tomatoes for market - you check one by one until the crate is empty. Same logic, just different pile. Keep going with that Infinix, you will be amazed how far small steps take you.

I started on a simple feature phone back in the day with USSD codes, so I know the feeling. Once you get used to the small screen, it becomes normal. What YouTube channel has been most helpful for you so far?

For YouTube, try "Programming with Mosh" - he explains things slowly and shows code on screen so you can type along on your Infinix. The Python for beginners playlist is good. His accent is clear too, which helps when you're learning on small data bundles.
